Although the improved International Cricket Council (ICC) rules permitted an elbow flex of up to 15 degrees, some biomechanical tests showed that his action was above the permissible limits. However, in November 2005, he was clear of his suspected illegal bowling action.
- Police Complaint by His First Wife: In 2010, Ayesha Siddiqui, Shoaib’s first wife, filed a police complaint against him for cheating on her. Before Shoaib’s marriage to Sania Mirza, Ayesha claimed that she was married to Shoaib and said that they both had a telephonic nikaah in 2002. Although Shoaib initially denied that he was married to Ayesha, he later got divorced from Ayesha in April 2010, a few days beforehis marriage to Sania Mirza. Some sources claimed that Shoaib paid Rs. 15 crores to Ayesha as alimony.
- Banned by Pakistan Cricket Board: Shoaib Malik was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board in March 2010 after the management team alleged that he misbehaved with the management during the 2009-2010 Australian tour.
